No Limits Racing - Round 1 22/23 March 2025

SUNNY SNETTERTON - or as it is now known " ah bugger!"

Rnd 1 of NLR was for the first time ever, in my experience, warm & sunny! The weather was that good I even decided to sign up for the stock twins grid along side PSS600.
Having not been able to make test day this round, qualifying for PSS600 was a baptism of fire! With some well known names & BSB stars tipping up for their “pre-season” practice, we headed out to secure our position on the grid.
As soon as I hit the first corner alarm bells started, the rear felt extremely loose like I was riding on glass… pushing through managing to set a new PB.
Qualifying on the SV650 was chaotic, riders that couldn’t hold corner speed caused a difficult session, only managing 5th in class I had work to do come race 1!
Race 1 in PSS600 I had a poor start, again the rear feeling extremely loose. On lap 3 the bike sent me into the grass when the rear snapped, I took this as an opportunity to regroup so headed for the pits to try understand what was the issue. Investigative work found my tyre pressure gauge was reading incorrectly and I actually had 29psi in the rear!

It was a quick turn around for race 1 on the twin. Getting an average start being held by riders on Supertwins that were blasting past on the straights but incapable of cornering, on lap 3 I decided to head round the outside at Corum knowing I had so much more pace,  I needed to try break the pack to take 3rd place.

Having made my move I knew I was going to be a sitting duck into T1 but hoping the jump would allow me the run out of T1 down to the hair pin before I could pull a gap on the infield sector. As we approached T1 with one bike on my left one slightly ahead to my right we tipped in, for a banzai R7 to come up the inside, sit up the rider in front of me leaving me no where to go. Hitting the tarmac with 3 other bikes piling into the carnage, red flags were waved.
After a trip to the med centre my weekend was over. With a shoulder injury, a thumb like Shrek’s, & a bike that had seen better days it left me less than happy.
Hoping the injuries will have healed by Brands so we can go again and show what I’m actually capable of 🙏🏻

March 2025 Pre Season Testing

Spain, the sunshine capital for testing.. not!!

Heading to Spain for 6 days split between Circuito de Sevilla & Circuito Monteblanco, two tracks I’d yet to lay rubber on, all was looking positive until we received the weather forecast… Rain! 🌧️
The first few sessions of Sevilla we seemed to have avoided any new downpours but having to make a “dry” line proved to be a challenge with nobody knowing the correct line it was slow progress. This aided me in completing the run in process of the freshly built engine supplied by SITRAmoto meaning I wasn’t trying to race the pace straight out the gate.
The second day brought in some well sought after sunshine, allowing learning of the track to progress. I thought I was doing fairly well until a certain BSB champion (Kyle Ryde) came round the outside of me pointing at the apex I’d just blown.
Day 3 was a write off, biblical rain called for only one thing… putting the bike on the stillage ready for Monteblanco.

Rocking up at Monteblanco we set up in the same weather we had left Sevilla in, this was not what I had in mind for Spanish testing weather!
First outing at Monteblanco was damp but dry enough to spin laps, leaving us to learn the circuit in between spits of rain.
The second day was a wash out, I spent the day riding another riders bike who had brought wets just to gain bike fitness.
Day 3 was bright and sunny, feeling like the changes I’d made had been positive, I even decided to channel my inner Rossi into turn 1.

Leaving Spain behind, with a bike that is dialled in, I’m looking forward to NLR rnd1 at Snetterton on 22nd March.
